Are you a teacher who would like to help young people with chronic pain and all those associated with it at school?
School is one of the environments where children and adolescents spend most of their time day to day. However, students that suffer from chronic pain often cannot attend class on a regular basis as result of the pain. It is for this reason that here at ALGOS, we have initiated a study that aims to better understand the reality experienced by teachers when faced with the problems of chronic pain in the classroom.
We need teachers to complete a questionnaire on the internet in which they will be asked about their experiences with children with chronic pain as well as about their personal experiences in relation to pain. In the case of teachers that have never been in contact with students suffering from chronic pain, you can also participate in the study as we will evaluate what you would do if, at some time in the future you find yourselves in contact with a child or adolescent with these characteristics.
Therefore, two basic conditions must be in place to be able to participate in this study: you must be a primary, secondary, advanced secondary or vocational training teacher and you must understand Catalan, as the questionnaire is administered in Catalan.
If you think you’d like to participate, please follow these STEPS:
1. Send an e-mail to dolor.alumnes.prof@gmail.com detailing your interest in participating.
2. You will soon receive a personalised link that will allow you to access your on-line questionnaire. It is important that the link is unique for each participant; otherwise, the information submitted by one participant could overlap that provided by another.
3. Once you have accessed the questionnaire using the link, you only need to read the instructions and begin answering.
The results obtained during the study will be analysed globally, in other words, considering all the participants as a whole. We are committed to maintaining the confidentiality of all personal data, such as the names or e-mail addresses, of those participating.
Furthermore, simply by participating you could win a voucher worth 100 euros to spend at Decathlon stores, the winner will be drawn from all those participating in the study. Remember that your help is essential in better understanding how children and adolescents face chronic pain in a school setting. This a good place to start for the future development of cooperation between educational centres and health professionals to help improve the quality of life of these boys and girls.
